Lame ACM Codec for VirtualDub
I thought I could easily learn how to add a LAME ACM codec for VirtualDub when I search it on Google, but it took me minutes before I figured what file I do need and its installation. It’s quite easy. No wonder people really do not make a guide for it. I’m writing this for the sake of personal reference Also, for those who can’t figure out the right LAME ACM file to download.
1. First you need VirtualDub, obviously.
2. Download the LAME ACM codec here. The moment I write this, the version is 3.98.
3. Unzip the codec file. Left click on LameACM.inf and click on install. You will see this:
Just continue with the installation.
4. To verify if installation is really successful, go to My Computer and click on Change a setting. The menu might look different on your end depending on your browsing settings.
5. Click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices then Sounds and Audio Devices. Select the Hardware tab. This is what you should see:
6. Double click on Audio Codecs Properties and select the Properties tab. You should see the Lame ACM Mp3 codec listed:
It will also appear in VirtualDub:
