LONG roundup of 2009 [Part 1/2] (3 Comments)

I should have done this at the earliest like I did last year, but fun times and laziness got the best of me. :D So much happened in 2009. Both good and bad. Crossing my fingers now that my memory will serve me well. I should have blogged every happiest and baddest moments. I’ll be forgetful when I get older. Either words or pictures will be the best way to relive those memories. ^_^

Mash It Up! gig + busy, busy week (1 Comment)

I have so much to blog about, but I won’t talk about them in just one post (this might up 100 pages long or even longer).

We had a practice before we headed to Bela Bar. We practiced 3 songs; songs that we weren’t sure if we’ll add to our playlist. We had to just in case. ^_^V We left later than we wanted to. Hil, the gig organizer, was asked me our whereabouts because we were asked to be there early for opening act. ^_^V Rain poured when we were halfway. That, the traffic, and our indecisiveness caused major delays. We arrived between 10-10:30PM — tired, sleepy, and I was in a bad mood because of a small fight w/ bf.

In the MRT

Anyway, Hil, the gig organizer, told us we can start setting up and doing sound checks. Commuting on a rainy night is tough, so we said that we wanna rest first. Also, we’d rather play right away instead of the pasikat moment. LOLz~ Then Hil offered us free Red Horse that mostly just went to waste. You’ll know later on. :/ Another band did the opening which is good news for us so we can prepare properly. I wrote down our line-up and tuned my guitar. The first band didn’t play long. We did our set-up duties that took us a while because the equipment weren’t that good. The guitar amp was wonky. Setting the volume at 1 already sets the amp at full blast. ~_~

K. Wasabi performing
I’m emo-ing with my guitar XD;

First song = disastrous! The bass amp Rayton used kept going off for more than half of the song. The audience was still nice to applaud us. The fucked up equipment killed our mood, but we continued. The guitar amp went wonky as well, similarly to Rayton’s bass amp. The sound will cut off at every strum I make. Specially on the solo part, I played like some wannabe n00b guitarist. ~_~ How embarrassing! It was also cold in the bar that my hands were freezing. That our first time to play for Bisikleta Productions and our performance sucked. I hope we get invited again, but not with the Oi! bands plox. ^_^V I have nothing against them. I just don’t like their pushing and pushing in a small dance floor that they accidentally hit our table. My beer went to waste because of their so-called dancing. ~_~ They were amusing though. I guess that kind of made up for the wasted beer. >_>

Contras at Bela Bar

I hardly remember the sequence of events that night. I think it was after one of Contras’ songs that the bar owner went to the dancefloor. He told the audience that the dancefloor isn’t that big, so they should go easy on the _dancing_. He even had a gun tucked in his pants. D: Those in the dancefloor didn’t move a bit when they saw a gun. I expected them to behave, but nuuuuu~ They knocked our table a lot of times. One big man accidentally pushed the bar owner as well. The very pissed bar owner took out his gun and pointed it to the big man. Most of the customers went out while we still sat there. Aside from “guns blazing,” a “clash of knives” also happened. *rofl* I was actually clueless. I also wanted to join in their riot because no one replaced my beer. >_< We got home around 3AM and very much amused by the events. XD; Hil apologized to me the following day, but not for the beer. Yeah, I still have an “anger hang-over” from that.

Whew, that’s one blog topic done. ^_^V Climate change papers kept me from blogging. I had to do a quick research about climate change, Makati’s adaptation and mitigation process on it, and contributions for the Mayor’s speech for the World Bank CC program. I had to work on a Saturday night with no extra pay. Only free dinner from boss. I remember there were about 10 speeches made from different people and offices. The final speech was like a combined force. D: I asked help form the WB Manila folks to check it. I’m afraid it’s full of fail, but boss said that we got a good response from the Mayor’s presentation. I wonder if he presented the WB-edited speech.

What a Saturday! (0 Comments)

Several things happened last week that was beyond my control. I should blog about that first, but I’m not ready to face them yet. :(

Saturday was a busy day that got my mind off those depressing things. The first thing I went to that day was the LO convention at Ikeda Hall, UP Diliman. Thank goodness for no traffic, I got there after 30 minutes of the starting time. To my surprise, there was a very long line outside the venue. It’s not like it’s bad, but it was just surprising considering the previous cons had a good number of attendees. ^_^V I waited for about 40 minutes in line and got a major headache from the heat. I thought it was going to rain hard. ~_~ As soon as I got in, I felt LOST. *rofl* There were so many people. I didn’t know where to go anymore. It was hard to walk around even. I’m pretty sure I ended up as a background in one of those cosplayers’ shoots. *sweatdrop* But it was great seeing how much people attended. Some of them I heard, while waiting in line, how they just wanted to see what happens in a yaoi con.

Plugs and the LomoMarketManila among others :P (0 Comments)

Plugs first:

To those who do not find sleeping very important, read this — 10 Benefits of Power Napping, and How To Do It. The micro-nap, mini-nap, and power nap works for me. ^_^ The lazy man’s nap gives me a headache or it makes me sleepier when I wake up.

KOTOKO mp3s — I hardly listen to KOTOKO. ^_^V

BENTO! :D

The LOMOMARKETMANILA event last Saturday (March 29) was great! The Lomomanila members really had a great time… Well, that I could see from the spot where me and my bandmates sat. *lol* I couldn’t join them because there weren’t any available tables WITH chairs anymore. There were just tables, tables, and more tables. XP It also seemed there were non-Lomomanila members sitting in their area. *lol* The only person I met was Bong. The Lomomanila BOSS. XD I wouldn’t have met him if our band wasn’t included in the line-up. If it were so, I would have been out-of-place because I suck at socializing.

The event started around 5:30PM. The Lomomanila peeps first had their group shot near a fountain. After that, was K. Wasabi’s opening performance. After our 3rd song, a Chinese lady and guy came to us to the stage and asked why we were performing. They said it should have been them, but we couldn’t just leave the stage right away so they let us finish 2 more songs. They performed + another world music group… Then there was a duo who did some slow trance-like songs. :P More Lomomanila members arrived, booths were set-up with a lot of nice items for sale (too bad I didn’t have much dough with me), there were a number of performers, and a lot of cheap food. There were also free drinks from Coca-Cola and Tanduay. :D

The guy in charge of the Coke booth (let’s call him Coke guy) became our friend. *lol* After we performed, he was already giving away Cokes in plastic cups. We took some and still took more when he kept offering them to us. A bit later, Mac and I were checking the food stands. Then Coke guy comes to us and tells us there’s food at their booth. Before that, Mac was already forcing me to buy food, but I’m glad I didn’t. XD So we rushed where Reyton and Maru were — happily eating on a long white plastic table with a lot of food. *lol* We certainly had a good spot then. I was beginning to feel sad that I never got to fully socialize with the Lomomanila members, but with the free food we got… I shouldn’t complain anymore. HAHAHAHA~ Next time I’ll try to socialize with them. ‘Coz, you know, SHABBY = FAIL at social skills. ^_^V

Oh, we got a nice group picture btw. Maru took some, but ginomatic’s shots are better. ^_^

More pictures here.

We left at 10:30PM. My ‘rents picked us up, but they looked around first before we left. My Dad and Maru saw something they shouldn’t have near the entrance of Neo Chinatown. ^_^;;; *COUGHwhiteCOUGHundiesCOUGHCOUGH*

Before the LomoMarketManila event, I was mostly stay home. I tried to clean up my room. It’s a hopeless attempt. DX Maybe this week I can get an area cleaned up. After my parents arrived, all the stuff I got are dumped on the foot of my bed and near my desktop. It’s messy that I find it hard to concentrate when I see all them. *sighs* Other than that, I managed to finish 98% of the 36 Moons’ website. Although I haven’t changed all the templates of the archive. It might take me forever if I did that, so I’m leaving that to Lez. XDDD Besides, I might delete a part of her chapters/stories and that would be so bad. All that’s left to do is to link the sidestories in the archive.

Time to cancel my Dad’s ticket at PAL. ~_~

Oh, the person I messaged, please reply asap. Parang hirap mo ma-contact. Tsk, tsk.

Most of us have persistent hair. I mean, instead of shaving, we wax to even remove the hair roots. Most was products state that after a number of use, hair will be thinner or no hair will grow back anymore. For me, that hasn’t happened at all. I tried 3 different products and they’re all bleh. XP Then again, I have no right to complain since that’s what I can only afford. I hate having to shave. Others gifted with lots of dough undergo laser surgery for hair removal. Every session surely does take a lot of money, but it seems worth it. Visit the site to give you a background on laser surgery for hair removal.

So I uploaded a bunch of pictures at Multiply in between thesis-writing breaks. :3 I was able to upload all the pictures (finally!) of K. Wasabi from my old gallery. ^_^

That’s about it from K. Wasabi’s photo albums. ^_^ We don’t have any upcoming gigs yet because I’ve been lazy to set up a practice schedule again. Some people aren’t helping even *coughsEJcoughs*. Anyway, we’re working on an original song. I should start writing songs that aren’t erotica. *ROFLMAO*

On Vox: Another K. Wasabi pic spam ^_^ (0 Comments)

More pics! :D I checked if I have uploaded all the pictures of the band from past to present, but I still haven't. I wonder when I'll be able to move all the pics from HyukTa.net Gallery to my Multiply account. -_-;

We had a gig last August 18, 2004 at Town Square, Sucat. Only 4 of us performed that night. Although there were a few of us, we really had fun. ^_^ Jozen and Roland are really great to be with.

Humble Sauce, one of the bands who performed that night. I think they're the first band.

This was after the gig. We were just camwhoring.

A few days after (August 24, 2004), we had a gig in the now non-existent Orchidia's Bar. This was located in Intramuros where I know doesn't really support bars like that. :/ There were only 4 of us again. We had a great time as we walked around the area looking for beer and even camwhoring. ^_^

Tita Sandra and I; she, Tito Tomo, Tita Pepot, and Lola came to watch us. XD

August 2004 K. Wasabi

Giving band lessons. ~_~ Why were the audience sitting, wtf!?

Before these two gigs, we had a 2-gigs night before. We played at KSP Bar and then at Club Indios. Thanks very much for Luv for inviting us. We owe you A LOT!!! I won't forget that. :) Of course, this gig dates back in 2004.

Front, left to right: Roland, Burigs, Sarah
Back: Shabby :P

Alright, here's one from our most recent gig. It was held in One Luv Bar on its first opening night. Hmm, all I can say is that it isn't the most welcoming bar we've played at among the others. :/ And when I contacted those in charge of the gigs and the place, I ended up being ignored. ~_~

We don't have pictures of our performance. -_-
