Mauve It Over (Matte)
Mauve It Over is a nude matte with brown undertone; my least used lipstick among the 6. It drags my lips while I apply and the finish is uneven and flaky. This is least used among my collection. Although it seems it’s been used several times, but that’s because I need to keep going until it looks even on my lips. For this swatch, I had to put lip balm underneath. Looks like it worked, so I might get a little more use of the lipstick after all.
They say this is dupe for Mac’s Velvet Teddy and Wet n Wild’s Bare It All. I don’t have the former, but I can check if it is similar to WnW’s.
Sandalwood Beige (Creme)
Sandalwood Beige is like the medium version of Mauve It Over, but creme with an orange-y brown undertone and more pigmented. This is one of the good shades in the bunch as it glides on smoothly and does not bleed nor feather. Being a creme finish, transfer is expected and can barely last through a meal. But it won’t leave an annoying and ugly ring around the lips.
Rosewine is terracotta red with creme finish lipstick. I could say this is my favorite (and most used) because it’s such a nice red to wear to work. It applies smoothly, pigmented in one swipe, and doesn’t bleed nor feather.
Funny story when I found this at the Revlon counter in SM Makati: Revlon had a “3 Super Lustrous Lipsticks for PhP800” promo. That would make awesome Christmas gift for friends, right? I tried not to get anything for myself until I found this lipstick, which seemed the only one left, but I had to refrain. So I returned it to the messy row of frost-finish lipsticks. Then I overheard someone ask for this that made me think it’s highly wanted. Obviously, no more second thoughts! I sneakily grabbed this again from the shelf right after the saleslady said they’re already out of it.
Wine With Everything (Creme)
Wine With Everything is more red than red-plum/red-violet as I expect with a supposedly ‘wine’ shade. It is a lovely red, but the only creme lipstick that feathers and bleeds. If you look closely in the lip swatch photo, you can already see feathering and that was taken only 2 minutes after applying.
Really Red (Matte)
Really Red is really red that feels creamy and has a sheen finish in spite being matte. It is one of the comfortable matte lipsticks I own. Not much thoughts yet, but will update when I get more wear out of it.
Black Cherry (Creme)
When I looked closely at the lip swatch photo, I noticed the flakiness. Not the lipstick’s fault, but all the swatching.
I like dark shade lippies, so I’m glad I have Black Cherry in my collection. It is deep plum with a creme finish that wears comfortably and non-drying. Only once have I eaten with this on. The lipstick kind of stayed put on the upper lip, but left that dreaded line around the lower lip. I would recommend this to those who want to get into dark shade of lipsticks because it’s not very intimidating nor get messy on your face.
These are all the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks I own, thus far. I didn’t think I would have more than Mauve It Over and Wine With Everything because both performed poorly. I changed my mind because the rest are actually long-lasting and non-drying. Let me know your favorites from the Lustrous Lipsticks range please. I also like purple and orange shades, so recommendations would also be awesome. 😀
Btw, my skin has been bad for a while especially near the chin. There have been changes in my skin care routine, so my face looks better actually. I will post my routine update soon.
