I wanted to try Pyunkang Yul because of the packaging, to be honest. I’m attracted to the simple, medicine-like bottles and jars. Not only is their packaging simple, but so is the ingredients in each of their products.
The first time I bought a lot of skincare from one brand in one go has only been with Pyunkang Yul. I got the Essence Toner, which I’ll review in a while, the Mist Toner, Moisture Serum, and Moisture Cream.
About Pyunkang Yul
If you have been researching about Pyunkang Yul, you already know by now that the skincare brand was launched by Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic. The clinic is quite known for treating atopic skin disorders. They are also known to use ingredients that are gentle and safe to use.
Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
The Essence Toner comes in a blue plastic bottle with a flip-top cap. The flip-top is tight, so I haven’t experienced spilling when I just throw the toner in my vanity bag. (I shower in a different floor in the house, that’s why.)
Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Aginine
It doesn’t contain water. The active ingredient Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract or Milk Vetch Root Extract is emollient, thus, soothing and hydrating the skin. For those who are sensitive to certain ingredients, this contains Butylene Glycol that is comedogenic and Carbomer that is an irritant. (Reference: CosDNA)
I didn’t expect I would really enjoy this toner. This is one of the recommended for 7-skin that’s why I bought it.
✓ Hydrating 🙂 This is the most hydrating toner I’ve ever used. I rely on this when my face feels dehydrated especially when I haven’t applied many moisturizing products in my evening skincare.
✓ Viscous, but feels lightweight and not tacky. Really good for layering/7-skin method. Refer to video below to see the texture.
✓ Smooths and soothes, and keeps my face that way for hours even without layering.
✓ Makes my skin feel clean.
✗ Currently available from online shops only. I understand some prefer to buy from a brick and mortar store.
The Essence Toner comes in 100ml and 200ml bottles. I got the latter from StyleKorean, which I recommend purchasing from. 🙂 They sometimes release Pyunkang Yul in sets and those are cheaper than buying individually. The 200ml Essence Toner is USD20. It’s also available at BeautyMNL at Php925. Hmmm, that price isn’t bad.
