The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder is my favorite setting powder that, sadly, I haven’t got around to reviewing ever. 😆 I only realized when I saw its box in my paper bag of makeup boxes (those I haven’t also reviewed). My jar/tub has been with me for a while now, which might be gross for some. But I never got breakouts and it doesn’t smell bad, so… Safe. 😛
About the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
With multiple major awards and counting, Laura Mercier’s “best in beauty”, cult-favorite bestseller is your go-to setting powder. Loose powder feels luxuriously dense in the jar, feels incredibly soft and silky-light on your skin. Pros love the super smooth application: goes on evenly, blends effortlessly, provides great wear. Sets makeup without adding weight or texture.
The loose powder has a matte finish with sheer coverage and a soft-focus effect that makes pores and fine lines less visible; doesn’t look cakey even when built up and doesn’t settle on fine lines.
It has a plastic container, so no worry on breakage especially when inside a bag or vanity kit. But it could still get messy, like when accidentally dispensed too much powder. The suggestion was to open few holes. When I got mine, I only cut half of the sticky sheet that covered the holes. Eventually, I removed the remaining when there’s about half of powder left (and when powders started to collect on the sheet).
To apply, I use a powder brush and put on areas where I tend to get really oily. Unlike its travel-size version, it doesn’t come with the velour puff.
The full size with 29 grams of product is PHP 1550 (at the time I bought it). A good deal for its price considering how long I have been using mine.
Recommendation and Availability
The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder keeps my oiliness at bay for five hours minimum and keeps my face look fresh for hours. Should I get oily, I only need to lightly blot with no need to retouch. It’s what I rely on when I know I would have a busy day ahead.
Laura Mercier is available in Rustan’s Makati where I bought mine.
