Guerlain Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls Anti-Dullness

The SA of the Guerlain store I went to suggested this to me after I looked for L’or, which has always been OOS and was even told it was limited edition (not even true afaik). She said the Meteorites Base is good for those with oily skin. I was doubtful at first–as always with SA suggestions–but I still bought it in spite of its hefty price tag.

Description
Guerlain reinvents its light-diffusing skin-perfecting pearl base.
Suspended in a gel that keeps them fresh and intact until application–a true breakthrough in formulation–the delicate pink pearls melt onto the skin to restore a perfect complexion with a luminous natural-looking glow.
– a high concentration of pearlescent flecks, featuring a high-tech formulation of multi-colored particles, maximise the diffusion and reflection of light to enhance the radiance of the complexion without creating excess shine. A unique blend of gold, pink, blue and green hues shimmer together to create a luminous, corrective halo of light on the face.
– absorbent powders neutralise excess sebum while a special polymer helps to conceal blemishes and smooth fine lines for a long-lasting matt complexion that gradually becomes more even with each application.

tl;dr: The pink pearls of the Meteorites Base melts onto skin as soon as applied. It gives a plump finish, neutralizes excess sebum, conceals blemishes and fine lines, and gradually corrects/evens complexion. The scent is floral; “delicate violet fragrance” as described by Guerlain.

My Thoughts

I use this mainly as primer. I know I haven’t shown my monthly favorites in so long–because I have been rotating my makeup a lot and my favorites before are still the same–but I can say that this is a new addition to my all-time favorites because:
– it neutralizes excess sebum
– gives a plump and smooth finish
– conceals blemishes
– brightens face

This may be used on its own especially since it does conceal blemishes. I just haven’t done so because I’m not used to a bare face. 😛 When I do I’ll update this post.

There seems to be shimmers there, but it doesn’t translate on the face. I think that’s what gives the brightening effect.

The first time I used it, I worried my face would become slick and shiny. Yet, I’m surprised it even prolongs the mattness (seems there’s such word) my Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation and that foundation can only stay matte on my face for four to five hours. The Meteorites Base can make any of my foundation look better and last longer. I have recommended it to friends who are into high-end products. I can’t think of a cheaper version of it although it would be great if there is one. 🙂

The only downside I can think of is it’s not travel-friendly. I’m considering taking this on my trip where I will spend days in both warm- and cold-weather places and this might help a lot keeping my foundation flawless.

I’m not a big fan of floral scent, but the scent of the Meteorites Base I find tolerable. The smell becomes really subtle to nothing after some time of wear.

Availability and Price

The Guerlain Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls Anti-Dullness is PHP 3500. There are Guerlain shops in Rustan’s Makati, Greenbelt 5, and SM Makati. The shops here seem to have limited stocks of it. Whether or not available, give it a test. They’re always willing to let you try their products before you buy.
