First post in a new category in the blog! 😀 I have been considering including a beauty category here for the longest time. My birth month feels like ‘new year’ to me, so I have the urge to make some changes in my life… Including spring cleaning/getting rid of stuff I don’t need anymore. Oh, I want to clarify to those who know (or don’t) I blog at Glam Love that I will still contribute there. 🙂
Back to the birthday presents…
I never really stepped inside the Dior shop (in SM Makati) because, duh, Dior! Everything is pricey there. But one time I couldn’t help but look especially when I was offered champagne. How could I resist? Champagne is my second love next to wine! I had myself a glass and even got an evening look makeover. They told me it was the best way to experience Dior makeup and it certainly was.
I loved all the makeup I was able to try. The first one I fell in love with was the Diorskin Forever Foundation then an eyeshadow (I didn’t get the shade name 🙁 ) and the All-in-Brow 3D Palette. I forgot if the Diorshow Maximizer 3D was applied on my lashes too.
Just that one time I got to try Dior makeup, I already couldn’t help myself from wanting to own some if not all! The first one I really wanted was the brow kit because it was easy and quick to use. I have seen many who take so long to do their brows. (My brows here took long to do too.) I tried to sleep it off for days until I realized how I could justify splurging for expensive makeup. (Reasons!) 😀
Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation 030
The Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation has pore-refining effect, shine-control, and SPF35. It feels matte, but actually has a natural luminous finish. What I love most about it is that it’s lightweight. When I have this on, sometimes I feel as if it already faded away. But I’d be wrong and I would see it still has good coverage.
The foundation may be built up more to the desired coverage and it wouldn’t cake up even for my oily combination skin. It has very good shine-control and longevity, but it still can not control the oil on my nose longer than I wanted. My nose is always the first to get very oily and it’s normal for me to see foundation build up there, but that doesn’t happen with this foundation.
It has a very faint perfume-like scent. But it’s so minimal that, for me who is sensitive to smell, it’s almost scentless.
Diorskin Forever come in a variety of shades, thought I’m unsure if they’re all available here. A bottle contains 30mL of product, which is standard for foundations, and costs PhP3,200. My only gripe with this is that it’s not travel-friendly.
Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo 002 Medium
I don’t think I would have wanted the Sculpting Stick Duos if it weren’t for the attendant who showed them to me and Joiz.
The Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo is limited edition and part of the Fall 2016 lineup. There are three shades–001 Soft, 002 Medium, and 003 Intense. I got 002 Medium. I wanted 003 Intense, but it was too dark for me. Both the contour and highlighter are creamy, so they’re easy to apply. But in regard to blending, I’ll explain below.
The contour is matte brown and looks intense when applied, but can be blended to a natural-looking contour. This blends seamlessly with the skin. I only use my fingers to blend and I do so more with a brush when I put on a powder bronzer.
The highlight is a very light copper shade with gold microshimmers. It gives a natural glow, almost dewy finish. The shimmers don’t really show up on skin, by the way. Unlike the contour stick, this isn’t easy to blend. So what I do is I lightly swipe it on an area, blend the edges a bit, and then apply more to the desired intensity.
This is great for travel with two products in one, which is another reason why I wanted it. It could be multipurpose too. I can use the highlight as eyeshadow. The longevity of the contour shade is my only issue as it lasts only around 6 hours or even less on me, but that’s because I have oily skin.
The Diorblush Light & Contour Sculpting Stick Duo is PhP2750.
All-in-Brow 3D Backstage Pros 001 Brown
The brow kit that haunted my thoughts and dreams for days. LOL! This is actually my first brow product. 🙂
The two shades available are 001 Brown and 002 Blonde. I have the Brown shade.
The kit comes with dark and light brown powders, gel, two brushes, and a spoolie.
I use the light brown on the inner part of my brows because I don’t want my brows to look ‘cornered.’ I’m unsure of the term. Anyway, then I lightly brush the dark shade on some sparse areas. My brows are actually full, but there still are sparsity. I use the gel only when I’m not in a rush or I put on dark eye makeup.
The Dior All-in-Brow 3D Brow Kit is PhP3,850.
Dior Addict Lip Maximizer 004
The Dior Addict Lip Maximizer is a popular gloss for plumping and juicy-looking lips. It may be used as a base to smooth and volume, on top of lipstick for juicy shine, or as a treatment.
The shade I have is the limited edition lilac. It’s such a pretty color, yet it shows quite sheer on my lips.
I haven’t used this as treatment, but either primer or to add shine on my lipstick. It has a mint-y feel, which I find quite addicting. 🙂
The Dior Addict Lip Maximizer is PhP1800.
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss for Fall 2016
I got two from the Fall 2016 collection, but before I show you those, let me show you swatches of the Ultra Gloss shades.
The shimmers in a couple of the glosses are very subtle, so they’re very wearable for daytime or even for work. Here’s another shot of the glosses to show the shimmers:
The Dior Addict Ultra Gloss is also at PhP1800.
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss 041 Famous
Famous is a clear gloss with lots (and lots!) of multicolored microshimmers. The gloss looks very lovely in the tube and lovelier on the lips or any lipstick for that shine. It doesn’t feel thick and tack on the lips nor even gritty from the microshimmers. The lip gloss is actually quite comfortable to wear and moisturizing.
I find the applicator to be quite unique as it is a brush. My other glosses or liquid lipsticks are usually with doe-foot applicators. I was actually surprised how easy and precise it was to apply the gloss with it.
The longevity is quite longer than I expected at nearly 5 hours. But it can barely last through a meal, which isn’t a huge issue for me. Also, even when the gloss is gone, there are still shimmers left on my lips.
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss 929 Scandalous
Scandalous is a dark bronze gloss with microshimmers as well.
The finish is a bit sheer and may be intensified. Similar with Famous, Scandalous doesn’t feel tacky, heavy, or gritty. The longevity is longer than Famous by an hour. It is also moisturizing.
I think the formula of Dior Addict Ultra Glosses are generally good. I want more now that I’ve moved on (for the meantime) from mattes! 😀 The tubes feel sturdy and very expensive as they should be. LOL! They are of rectangular shape and that’s actually good to prevent them from rolling and falling to the floor.
Here are the swatches of the Duo Stick, Lip Maximizer, and Ultra Glosses.
I’m very happy with the presents I got for myself and they’re all worth every single penny. 🙂 Have you tried any Dior makeup before? Please let me know in the comments below if you have and what you would recommend. I’ll surely check them out!
