That’s a bingo! (0 Comments)

Ah, I don’t know how to express my excitement, approval, and happiness for Christoph Waltz winning the Best Supporting Actor award in the Oscars for his role in Inglourious Basterds as Col. Hans Landa.

January movies and frightening nightmares (1 Comment)

The last movie I watched last year was Avatar in 3D. I watched it alone as an early Christmas gift for myself. There’s nothing extraordinary about its story. The cinematography blew me away which resembles, imo, Final Fantasy X. The lighted pathways and lake, beautiful wild plants, and the fairy-like insects — all of which can be seen in the game. Inspired by the game, maybe?

The first movie I watched 2010 is SHERLOCK HOLMES. A great movie that I even recommended to my family and watched for the second time with them. The action scene’s amazing. I enjoy doing kicking and punching moves, so my excitement level shot up when I saw Sherlock kicking arses. :D Jude Law being overly handsome and Robert Downey Jr. being hot hot hot were plus plus plus points.

This is a list of the other movies I saw in the month of January so far. The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, as they say, isn’t your typical Hollywood film. The plot was very promising until the storyline had to be changed due to the death of Heath Ledger. The appearance of Depp and Law was great (I swooned when I saw them both), but Heath Ledger was truly meant to be for the character. Too bad he didn’t get to finish it. Zombieland is another of movie I recommend. Watch it for survival lessons in case of a zombie outbreak. *lol* It was only shown recently and only for a week in the country.

Jan, Maru, Ace, and I watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs on 3D last week. We only paid 1 Peso thanks again to PDI for the tickets. :D The movie is funny, cute and very colorful. *lol* I think it’s a good watch after Dear John although I heard that isn’t much of a tearjerker. :P

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging is a rather old English film; released in 2008. Based on the book of the same title, it’s about Georgia living the 14 y/o life of understanding self, school, friends, and boys. Those English boys with deep accents had me ovulating and teary-eyed.

While I’m on the discussion on movies, check this list of 20 Weirdest Japanese films. I recommend Survive Style 5+. The movie portrays what seems to be life lessons. Only weird. One of my female crushes who’s half-Japanese and half-Spanish is in it.

I had nightmares for three nights straight. I feel the need the share them in case anyone has an understanding of these. The first nightmare I had was about my brother. I was at a neighbor’s. A look-alike of my brother came over and informed us that my brother had a heart attack or he got hurt. He seemed calm which pissed me off. I rushed home and told the look-alike that he could have tried to save my brother. Though useless, I still tried all means to. The second was about losing a dog or 3 dogs. They didn’t die, but were dognapped. ^^;;; In the third nightmare, I lost a special object.

Sometimes forgetting dreams has its advantages. Should these dreams be still clear in my head, I would be worried and paranoid. I thought the third nightmare would be the last for, at least, this week. When I took a nap at work yesterday, I had a short dream about going out with my officemates and forgetting somewhere my netbook. I found the bag somewhere only the netbook was missing. ~_~ What do you guys think? My fear of losing someone or something is being visualized by my subconscious I believe.

3 Movie reviews and Korean Filmfest (0 Comments)

Since there have no been podcasts for months now, might as well blog about these movie reviews I have been meaning to do for ages.

Bruno
I watched this before the premier screening here because I was that excited. *lol*

Bruno is an Austrian fashion reporter who has his own show and goes to fashion gigs, until he got fired because of his ruckus in Milan Fashion Week. Nowhere to go and nothing to do, he goes off to America to find fame. Things do not go as planned, of course. Events and problems was similar to Borat’s, only a lot less irritating. XD;

I felt like an innocent young girl as I watched this movie. I closed my eyes in some scenes like the swinging dick and Bruno and his lover going at it. @_@ There was too much geighness and censorship that I could hardly take it. *lol* The ending was cute. XD; didn’t expect to see Sting and Bono.

Bruno, aside from being an outrageous character, is a funner movie compared to Borat. Borat’s really so 2006. XD It was hard to watch since Borat became irritating, less shocking, and the movie ending was bleh~ In Bruno, there were hardly any icky persons who cameo-d. Bruno wasn’t as clueless as Borat. I also totally support gay love. XDDD

Star Trek
I am SO late in reviewing this. *lol* There are too much memories with this movie, so I can’t just pass it up. I was one of the lucky persons who was able to watch the premier. Jaja, Liza, and a guy from a different department in the office (who gave us the tickets) were with me. Ayala Cinema made us leave every gadget we had especially cellphones. I didn’t leave my netbook though since I don’t wanna worry about the safety of my stuff while we watch the movie. There was free food from Italianni’s (I think) and Pizza Hut, but we didn’t get any of those since we had early dinner. If we only knew! Tsk, tsk. We did have the dessert though — DQ’s Blizzard. :D

Star Trek premier ticket and TwirlyStar Trek premier ticket

The movie started by almost 8:30 PM. That’s about one hour after the expected screening time. We were able to finish our ice cream before the movie. ~_~ It was worth the wait though. Srsly. Liza and Jaja aren’t Star Trek fans and didn’t want to see it (they only did because it was free) yet they were excited throughout the entire movie. The seats shaking from their excitement was enough proof. *lol* The movie was awesome that it wasn’t only worth the time, it’s also worth the sacrifice. XD;

Up
UP 3D tickets

I watched this twice. First one was with Dad and second time with the family. I went with the family because they would watch in Greenbelt 3’s 3D cinema. I would have watched it there with Dad, but the theater was already packed. -_- Anyway, the movie didn’t fail to get me teary-eyed again. The characters are all lovable especially Russell. *lol* He was so cute when he was on Kevin’ legs. HAHA~

Since we’re on the discussion on movies, I should go ahead about the Korean Film Festival 2009. I don’t remember hearing about a Korean Film Festival on the previous years. Is this a first? Thanks to Karen for the heads up.

Metro Manila tour (0 Comments)

Yesterday’s a good day. ^_^ College friends contacted me to catch up on stuff. Wally, who’s also an EnSE grad, called me up in the office to ask about the city’s creek/waterways profile and if I got back with the ex. I lol’d and told him no. When I asked him why, he said that I might still have some love for him. I answered, “Man, there’s no reason why I still should…” When there’s somebody who makes my heart do a triple beat and knees weak. GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHA~

Jaja and I almost died due to the effin’ heat when we went out last Monday. It was the Makati City Grand Parade day, so we were allowed to go to work in casual. I went in jeans and polo shirt which I opened all its buttons without caring if people can see my bra or cleavage (as if). It was hot. ~_~ I would have gone in shorts if it was allowed. I was already in the office by 6:30AM yet Jaja and I didn’t leave until 11AM. Our original plan was to go to UST then to Ayala to watch the parade. But plan changed to going to UP first to get Jaja’s recommendation letter. Then to UST, Mapua, and Ayala for the parade. We rode almost every puv — jeep, MRT, cab, FX, and LRT. *lol* The cab we rode to UP was hell. It was already 36.5 degrees Celsius that day, but it was hotter in the damn cab. ~_~

We stayed the longest in UST. All the staff of the graduate school were off which was weird considering it was the deadline for the submission of application forms. The security guard wouldn’t accept Jaja’s application form because it’s her off the following day. She said there’s no assurance it will reach the staff. We can’t afford to miss work and it’s too tiring to go back, so we had to contact everyone we knew who might be able help us out. I hoped the trumpet player would. As usual, he’s m. i. a. Anyway, thanks to the good souls — Erick for giving Oliver’s number and Oliver for being ultimately nice — it was a load off our shoulders. XD; We dragged ourselves out in search of fastfood restaurants for very late lunch. We didn’t find ‘em restos though until after we walked for almost half of the campus.

Since our next stop was Manila City Hall, I decided we pass by Mapua to get my yearbook. Best for me to (slowly) settle things there. I still have to get my diploma and the alumni ID. *lol* Last stop (for us both, that is) is Ayala. It was unfortunate that we didn’t get to watch the parade. We were so out of energy that getting out of the train’s hard. The security guard even had to help us without failing to give a sermon. ^_^V Before Jaja and I parted, we did some quick shopping in SM supermarket and Glorietta 5.

Terminator Salvation ticket and Ricky!!
Isn’t Ricky cute? HAHA~

My day doesn’t end there. I still had to go to Megamall for the premiere of Terminator Salvation. Good movie or not, it would be sad to cancel free movie. XD I felt shameless meeting up with Spanx because I looked wasted and reeked of pollution. Tsk, tsk. Sorry, Spanx! Anyway, I arrived just in time for the cocktails. The Star Trek cocktails was better since the food were from Italianni’s, Blizzard, and Pizza Hut. The cocktails of TS was sponsored by Padi’s Point that served half of a sandwich and an egg, few french fries, one piece uber small hotdog, and barbeque. Oh, and a small cup of iced tea. ~_~ It’s not like they have to serve to more than a thousand people. Oh well, free’s free. Who am I to complain? :P Movie ended before 10PM. I could still go home by MRT, but looking at how far it was almost made me cry. ^_^V The bus was another option yet was also far. So cab it was even though wallet’s already flat as a sheet of paper. *lol*

Inside the huge ticket
Big ticket is big XD;

I encountered some weird people that day. DX First was the pedicab driver who, Jaja said, called me a Katrina look-alike. ~_~ Second, the guy at the theater who looked, then stared, and smiled at me. It was creepy. Spanx was amused when I told him I don’t even know the guy. ^_^V Third was the cab driver. After paying him, he faced towards me and smiled like… Ugh. ~_~ It’s probably the polo shirt.

Teeth

Teeth is a nightmare-inducing movie. LULz~

Nothing of the sort is happening irl, but there are news of penis’ getting bitten off. :| One is of a 26 y/o man who bites off his own penis. O_O He was found bleeding behind a building. Here’s another — a secretary accidentally bit off the penis of her boss when a van hit their car.

I have come across more similar news, but I’d rather not mention them anymore.

UGH.

OT — Isn’t this pretty? ^_^
