Shabby Shababeh! — Bookworm, musically-inclined, serious, short-tempered yet tries to be calm and patient most of the time, geek, open-minded, likes children (but I don’t want to have my own yet), semi-realist, idealist, playful, witty, outgoing, silly, bitchy, extremely moody, left-brain dominant

I ♥ music — rock, techno, classical, industrial, J-rock, and K-pop to be exact. In the rock genre, my favorite bands are The Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Korn, 311, Placebo, and Garbage. I listen to a lot of rock bands, but those mentioned are on the top of my list. ^^ Since 4 years old I’ve been listening to rock along with new wave. My Dad listened to only one station before and they play music between rock and new wave. Til I grew up to my teens, rock music filled our home. So no matter how much pop, r&b, ballads, etc. you play to me, my liking to rock won’t change. Rock isn’t all noise (I noticed how many bands destroy _rock_ with their gibberish songs or aka hardcore rock.), btw. There’s about love, politics, and society. Billy Corgan and Trent Reznor are my favorite composers/producers/song writers.

Just one classical song gives a lot of feelings and emotions. That’s what intrigued me to classical music. Also, people who play classical instruments such as the violin, harp, double bass are my idols! I always wanted to learn at least one of them especially the violin. The first instrument I wanted to learn, but never got the chance to. *sighs*

Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim fall under my favorite techno bands/groups. Nine Inch Nails & Marilyn Manson, and KMFDM are industrial rock bands I listen to.

Many of my friends, be it online or not, are surprised I’m into J-rock and K-pop. Some people would criticize me and some would be astonished. I wouldn’t have liked J-rock and K-pop if it weren’t for anime. When I joined a Fushigi Yuugi mailing list (which I left a few months later because I felt out-of-place), one of the moderators talked about K-pop. The moderator showed pictures of Shinhwa. The moment I saw the pic of JunJin and HyeSung I got more interested! So I searched around the net for this boyband and found ZandD — the site with the Top 10 Good-Looking Korean artists (something like that) and _discovered_ Kang Ta. He was so pretty and cute in the picture they used. I’m a sucker for guys with pretty faces, so that’s where things started off. I spent a lot of time online searching about these artists and I didn’t even care if I had to browse Korean sites that I didn’t understand. ^^; We already had Arirang on cable tv and Shinhwa was having their debut then. I recorded performances and bought albums. H.O.T’s 3rd album is my first K-pop album. You should see my collection now. ^_^ As for J-rock, Laruku’s (L’Arc~en~Ciel) the first band I ever liked after seeing them in V-Asia. I recorded their interviews and music videos as well. I was introduced to other bands through WOWOW. Major thanks to them, I’m into Penicillin, Raphael, Malice Mizer, & Gackt. I started to buy J-rock magazines no matter how expensive they were.

Other bands/artists I like/ are Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, No Doubt, Save Ferris, Reel Big Fish, Audioslave, Chris Cornell, Sublime, The Cure, Deftones, Cold, 1TYM, Pierrot, Baby V.O.X., J, T, Tashannie, Fly to the Sky, and Jinusean. There are more. I’m just forgetting them at the moment. ^^;;;

Ah, my biggest obsession ever are anime and manga. They’re almost the reason for the majority of my interests! The first I’ve watched was Candy Candy, but I wasn’t aware of “anime” back then. When my cousin showed me Yuyu Hakusho, I began to find out what anime is. I began my search for anime as Ranma 1/2 & Sailormoon, both televised on local channels, grew my liking. Now I have 1500+ cd’s of anime series, lots of manga (not counting the scanlations), and small collectibles. I ventured on to drawing/sketching due to SailorMoon’s pretty manga art. Read my anime & manga fandom at SASHIMI. I also have a yaoi recommendation site — just say goodbye.

It wasn’t my choice to take up Environmental and Sanitary Engineering. I never even wished to. -_- My first option was Philosophy, but I never made it. I tried to apply for courses suited as my pre-law. Then my parents decided I take an exam in MIT. It wouldn’t hurt to try, right? So I took an entrance exam, a freaking hard one even, and I didn’t expect to pass at all. I really didn’t, but I did and my Dad was happy. Heh~ Because if I finish engineering now and take up law his daughter would be a lawyer-engineer. Sounds big-time, huh? *lol* I’m a greedy fool too because I know this would bring me lots of dough. XD That is if I work hard. There are times I regret taking this up. I didn’t have much friends to hang around with in school. It’s usually the people who I’m classmates with at the current term. My group is in a different program, so when we had to take up major courses/classes I barely get the chance to be with them anymore. Anyway, during my high school batch, only 5 of us had the guts to take up this program. One had given up though; the person who’s got more brains than I do. Man, I’m the laziest among us. I slept through Math & Science classes in HS and the Principal’s secretary even insulted me as a non-qualified student for MIT. Still, I’m somehow surviving the so-called hard life here. Hopefully I’ll get through.
